Meet Dr. Lygrisse

Hello DOC friends, family, and patients!

My name is Dr. Daniel R. Lygrisse. I recently joined the DOC family this past September. I am excited to be a part of this team that is so eager to bring excellent orthopedic care to our community! My family and I have moved from Dayton, Ohio where I completed my hand and upper extremity fellowship at Kettering Health Network. I can't tell you how grateful I am for the excellent training I received there. My family and I are settling into the Mt. Zion community and have found the Mt. Zion and greater Decatur area to be extremely friendly; we couldn't have asked for a better place to plant our young family.

I am excited to offer my expertise in complex elbow, forearm, wrist and hand pathology. From fracture care and arthritis, to sports injuries, nerve injuries, and pediatrics, I look forward to caring for you and your family members.

Many patients suffer from severe peripheral compression neuropathies such as carpal tunnel and cubital tunnel syndrome. Some patients also suffer from loss of muscle mass and strength from their cubital tunnel syndrome. I have extensive training in cutting edge surgical treatments such as the anterior interosseous nerve to ulnar nerve Supercharged End To Side (SETS) nerve transfer. This procedure can help maintain muscle mass and strength in the setting of severe cubital tunnel syndrome or high ulnar nerve palsy. I also offer a minimally invasive approach to standard carpal and cubital tunnel syndrome including endoscopic carpal tunnel release and mini-open cubital tunnel release.

I specifically enjoy taking care of patients with complex elbow fractures as well as elbow instability. Currently there are many options for treatment of these injuries and picking the right treatment for my patients is my pleasure.

Of particular interest to me is the problem of painful neuromas in amputees. I am currently working on a landmark paper regarding the specific techniques in Targeted Muscle Reinnervation (TMR) in partial and complete hand amputation. This is a revolutionary technique that can decrease pain and increase functionality of myoelectric powered prostheses.

If you have any questions or would like to schedule an appointment, please give me a call!

Professionally yours,
Daniel R. Lygrisse D.O. M.A.
